「Download Router」という非常に便利なChrome拡張機能が存在していました。
ダウンロード先を拡張子やURLに応じて振り分けてくれるという機能で、
特に多くのファイルを扱う業務では重宝されていた方も多いのではないでしょうか。
多数のECショップをもつ店舗の受注スタッフなんかは特に。。

しかし、そんな便利な拡張機能もManifest V3の導入によって、
ついに廃止となってしまいました。

・Manifest V3とは？V2との違い
Googleはセキュリティやパフォーマンスの向上を目的に、Chrome拡張機能の仕様を Manifest V2からV3 に移行しました。

以下に主な違いをまとめます：

特に「Download Router」のような拡張機能にとって致命的だったのは、バックグラウンドで常駐して処理を続けることができなくなった点です。

必要な機能は変わらず欲しい…
ということで、私は Manifest V3準拠で、Download Router風の拡張機能を自作しました

できること：
ダウンロード時にファイル拡張子やURLを確認
条件に応じて保存先フォルダを自動で振り分け
簡単な設定画面でルールを追加・変更可能

便利な拡張機能が使えなくなるのは残念ですが、
セキュリティはどんどん強くなっていってほしいですね。
